Weddings in Malaga: What to Know

Two decisions matter here. First: coast or inland. Inland (Alhaurín, Coín, the Axarquía) means fincas with mountain views, olive groves and total privacy. Coast (Málaga-Marbella strip) means beach clubs, sea backdrops and easier logistics for older guests. Second: how much Andalusia you want in the day. Some couples want white villages, flamenco and orange trees front and centre. Others want the location without the theming. Both are fine, worth deciding early.

AGP airport is the international entry point for all of Andalusia. Direct flights from most of Europe, and the drive to Marbella is 40 minutes, Nerja an hour, inland fincas 30 to 60 minutes.

March, April and October are underrated months here. Weather that feels like June anywhere else, prices 20 to 30 percent below peak. If your guest list can travel outside school holidays, use it.

Common Questions

Malaga Wedding FAQ

What makes Málaga different from other Spanish wedding regions?+

The season length: comfortable outdoor weddings from March into November. Combined with Málaga's international airport and the Costa del Sol's mature hotel infrastructure, guest logistics are among the easiest in Spain.

Beach ceremony or inland finca?+

Both work well. Coastal venues (Marbella-Málaga strip) give dramatic sea backdrops and beach-club receptions. Inland fincas (Alhaurín, Axarquía) offer privacy, mountain views and complete estate takeovers. Many couples combine: ceremony inland, day-after beach club.

Is Andalusia hot in summer?+

Yes, especially inland. June and September are the sweet spots. In July and August, plan for late-afternoon ceremonies (7pm+) or air-conditioned indoor spaces during peak heat.

Can we include flamenco or Andalusian traditions?+

Absolutely. Private flamenco tablaos, horse shows and traditional Andalusian catering (fried fish stations, Iberian ham carving) are all easy to arrange. We work with the region's best performers.

How far in advance should we book?+

Nine to fifteen months for peak season. The long usable season means more availability spread across the year than in the Balearics.
