The classic hacienda sits 20 to 40 minutes outside the city. Stone arches, cobbled patios, fountains, and a mix of covered and open-air spaces that work through the heat of a long reception. Carmona, Alcalá de Guadaíra, Brenes and the Aljarafe plateau west of Seville are where the best of them are. City-centre venues (palaces near the Alcázar, rooftop terraces above the cathedral quarter) make more sense for smaller celebrations where guests want to be in the city.
The timing conversation matters here more than anywhere else in Spain. July and August are genuinely extreme: 40 to 44°C in the afternoon. Outdoor ceremonies are not comfortable in peak summer. The good months are March, April, May and then September, October, November. Semana Santa (Holy Week, usually late March or early April) is one of the most spectacular times to be in Seville but it also brings huge crowds, elevated prices and transport complications, worth factoring in if your dates land there.
SVQ airport is small, direct from several European hubs, but not as connected as Málaga for UK or northern European guests. Many couples ask guests to fly into Málaga or Madrid and take the AVE high-speed train, which is under two hours from both. Worth mentioning in your guest information.

A hacienda is a historic Andalusian estate, often built during the 16th to 18th centuries, originally for agriculture. Most have large covered patios (for shade), orange-tree gardens, chapel ruins or actual chapels, and stone arches that photograph extraordinarily well. The combination of architectural grandeur and outdoor space is hard to replicate anywhere else.
When should we avoid getting married in Seville?+
July and August. Average afternoon temperatures of 40 to 44°C make outdoor receptions genuinely uncomfortable. Late-afternoon ceremonies with early evening reception work, but the heat constrains everything. March to June and September to November are the months to aim for.
Is Semana Santa a good time for a wedding in Seville?+
The city is spectacular during Holy Week, but it comes with complications: processions block streets, hotels fill and raise prices, and logistics for guests and suppliers become harder. If you want that atmosphere, factor in the extra planning it requires. Most couples choose the weeks around it rather than during.
How do international guests get to Seville?+
Seville airport (SVQ) has direct flights from several European cities but limited long-haul connections. Many guests fly into Málaga or Madrid and take the AVE high-speed train, which is 2.5 hours from Málaga and under 2.5 hours from Madrid. Worth including in guest communications.
How far in advance should we book a Seville venue?+
Ten to fifteen months for prime haciendas in spring or autumn. Seville has fewer venues than Mallorca or Barcelona, so the best estates fill quickly. Shoulder-season weekdays have more flexibility.
