Weddings in Alicante: What to Know

The northern Costa Blanca (Jávea, Altea, Moraira, Calpe, Benissa) is where the most characterful venues are. Rocky headlands, terraced hillside estates, and private villas with direct sea views or a short walk to coves that most people have never heard of. Denia, at the northern end, sits directly across from Ibiza and Mallorca and has ferry connections that some couples use for a wedding-weekend island hop.

The microclimate here is one of the most reliable in mainland Spain. Outdoor ceremonies are realistic from early April into November, with July and August warm (28 to 33°C) but not the extreme heat of Andalusia. The light in this part of the coast, particularly late afternoon, is what photographers tend to mention. Rocky limestone cliffs, clear blue water, the colour of the Montgó mountain behind Denia: it is a different landscape to the flat beach resorts further south.

ALC airport (Alicante-Elche) is well connected from the UK in particular, with multiple daily flights from London and regional airports. The drive to Jávea or Altea is under an hour. Moraira and Benissa sit at about 45 minutes. Price-wise, the Costa Blanca competes strongly with Mallorca for similar-quality venues, often at a noticeable difference.

Common Questions

Alicante Wedding FAQ

Which part of the Costa Blanca is best for weddings?+

It depends entirely on what you want the day to feel like. The northern coast (Jávea, Altea, Moraira, Calpe, Benissa) has dramatic clifftop fincas, narrow roads, sea views from above and a quieter, more private atmosphere. Denia, at the top of the northern stretch, has a different energy: a proper town, good restaurants and direct ferry connections to Ibiza and Mallorca. The area around Alicante city and El Campello is flatter, more accessible for guests with mobility considerations, and closer to the airport. Each zone produces a different wedding. The right one depends on guest count, whether you want seclusion or easy access, and the look you are going for.

How does Alicante compare to the Balearic islands for price?+

Comparable venues on the Costa Blanca typically cost 20 to 35 percent less than Mallorca or Ibiza equivalents. Catering and supplier costs follow a similar pattern. For couples who want dramatic sea views and a long season without island pricing, it is the closest mainland equivalent.

What is the weather like for weddings in the Costa Blanca?+

One of the most reliable climates in Spain. April to November works for outdoor ceremonies. July and August reach 30 to 33°C, warm but not the extreme heat of Seville or Madrid. Rain in the season is very rare. The northern coast also has its own microclimate that tends to be slightly cooler and breezier than the southern resorts.

Can guests fly direct to Alicante?+

Yes. ALC airport is particularly well served from the UK: multiple daily flights from London Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham and other regional airports. Direct connections from Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland and other European markets. Most guests will find a direct flight.

How far are the best venues from the airport?+

Alicante city is 20 minutes. El Campello and Villajoyosa are 25 to 35 minutes. Altea and Calpe are 50 to 60 minutes. Jávea, Moraira and Denia are 60 to 75 minutes. Worth budgeting for guest transfers, particularly for late-night returns.
